Last week I spoke before the Christian Rights and Freedom Institute in Naples, Florida. My 45-minute speech revolved around the topic of my forthcoming book, Sword and Scimitar: Fourteen Centuries of War between Islam and the West, and how Americans have been fed a false history that makes the West’s current conflict with Islam incomprehensible, whereas knowledge of true, well-documented history—one that almost exclusively revolved around war—places current events in a much clearer context.

Thank you, that was a very informative talk.
I am glad you mentioned Syria and Iraq destabilised by the Americans, who I hold mostly responsible for opening the door to ISIS and the conflagration that now engulfs those two countries along with the rest of the ME, and having abandoned Christians and other non-Muslim minorities instead of going to their rescue. The so-called Arab Spring became a nightmare for them.
I remember Bush justifying invading Iraq because “we need to bring democracy” to the ME. He and Clinton/Obama et al must surely have known that tribal people don’t understand that concept, having interfered in Africa and elsewhere for long enough. They did so simply because of that oil pipeline they wanted to build to bypass the Suez Canal.
It is disturbing that so many in America, Canada and the West seem so ignorant about the history of Islam. I see it as a combination of distorted history, too many Westerners having rejected God and His moral law and are therefore blind and deaf, and cultural marxist leaders with insidious agendas.
August is a long time to wait for the release of your book!

Very well stated, Menseismal! Most Westerners don’t “get” that the British truly screwed up the ME by creating completely irrational borders when they broke it up. These tribal people do NOT acknowledge national borders,(let alone the ones created by Britain – for their own benefit). In Iraq alone there are at least three tribal groups, three languages, and yet, Britain lumped them together. Same in Afganistan: five tribal groups, three languages. And how is that the Kurds have been completely left out of the equation? They are their own tribal group!! And yet, it still doesn’t explain why the Islamists are trying to re-establish their Caliphate… It hasn’t stopped in 1400 years!!

History is filled with “screw-ups”, mostly by ambitious and self-serving people.

The squabbling between Shiites and Sunnis not to mention Assad of Syria have done quite a thorough job of screwing up most of the ME all by themselves prior to any US involvement. I don’t have much respect for my country (US) anymore and am very well informed on all that has been done and not done to make things better. But, I’m also sick and tired of being everyone’s favorite excuse for their own failures.
President Obama who was and still is a radical Muslim, the biggest screw-up this nation has ever delivered into the world scene, did much to stir the pot, also. But that said, Syria itself was a basket case long before any involvement on the part of the US.
With the hundreds of billions of petro dollars the Arab nations have managed to extort from the west, what exactly has it accomplished towards establishing the betterment of ME conditions? I mean besides making a few Arab leaders obscenely wealthy?
What exactly have ME states and peoples done for themselves in establishing more representative borders?
And, while we’re on the topic, anyone have a good idea why western interests created those borders in the first place? Maybe a little soul searching on the part of Islamic nations’ 14 centuries of barbaric and savage mayhem spread across at least three continents to the tune of hundreds of millions of lost lives, tens of millions who managed to survive long enough to make the forced march journeys to distant Muslim slave markets to spend the last of their tortured lives as the sex toys of Muslim lords and other assorted riff-raff Muslims who had a dime to spare, and the looting of hundreds of millions of others of their homes, families, businesses, farms, religious shrines and churches, money, silver, and gold – you name it, does any of that present a little more perspective into why ME countries are in the mess they’re in?
Shall we discuss how the merciful western powers rebuilt and at least made the effort to do for the ME what they wouldn’t do for themselves after they’re failed alliance with the Nazis of World War II?
