Russian President Vladimir Putin has a strange way of speaking straightforwardly, without all the artificial and “morally superior” airs one expects from Western politicians.
Earlier, for example, he wondered why Western leaders were supporting cannibals in Syria:
You will not deny that one does not really need to support the people who not only kill their enemies, but open up their bodies, eat their intestines in front of the public and cameras. Are these the people you want to support? Is it them who you want to supply with weapons? Then this probably has little relation to humanitarian values that have been preached in Europe for hundreds of years.
Putin was referring to the notorious video of a jihadi leader biting into the organs of a Syrian soldier while screaming Islamic slogans.
Now, the straightforward Russian has asked another equally important and straightforward question — the sort of question so full of common sense that most Western politicians never expect to hear a fellow politician asking (and, as usual, one the Western media have failed to report on, though Arabic media is abuzz with it).
In a videotaped interview published today concerning U.S. attempts to go to war in Syria, not only did Putin criticize Secretary of State John Kerry’s dissembling concerning the nature of the Syrian opposition, but he also said:
There is another question: if it turns out that the armed rebels are the ones who used weapons of mass destruction, what will the United States do with the armed rebels? And what will it do with those sponsoring the rebels? Will they stop supplying them with arms? Will they start fighting against them?
Indeed. Considering that invading Syria is almost entirely being rationalized in the context of Assad violating the human rights of others, what will the U.S. — Obama, Kerry, McCain, et. al. — do if it turns out that the al-Qaeda led rebels are, in fact, the ones using such weapons, as significant evidence already indicates?
Probably what they are doing now: continue misleading Americans and go to war anyway, since — and once again — this has nothing to do with chemical weapons.

I never thought the day would come where I cheer a Russian leader(and exKGB at that) for his common sense, sanity and true leadership qualities over a US president whose reign has well surpassed Carter’s as the WORST over the last century. But more to the point feckless Obama has so severely damaged the US in the eyes of the sane (ie non PC leftist)world that it will take decades to repair the damage, if possible.
How sane men can support a fool like this(and Cameron) makes you actually want to believe in an Elysium style conspiracy ruling this world.

Well, actually I am high. And Carter was and is a decent man, who was taken advantage of by what would become known as neo-conmen in the decades following.
Carter was, and is a very decent person. The problem is that he is also a complete fool. He didn’t need anyone to make a fool of him. Well meaning fools have left a trail of destruction throughout history.
If the US had a president who was as committed to our national interests as Putin is to his people’s interests, the US would be a lot better off.
You are right, its a sad day when the US has to look to Russia to see real, level-headed leadership. And only the gullible believe the Russian position is about their one port in Syria. Fact is Russia does not want another mess like Afghanistan in its neighborhood.
In fact, Putin isn’t committed to his people’s intereststs, he is just able to talk sence, in contrary to ravings of Obama.
Putin is right? What he is saying is if you don’t have confirmed proof , what is your justification ? Obama is acting like a gang leader in some jail house fight . He’s okay with the fight as long as his side is winning [ MB] but let the other side get the upper hand and then it’s time to send in more bullies. The only thing is he’s running out of bullies and now it’s time to force other people to get into the muck or face his retaliation. It wouldn’t surprise me if he won’t induce the draft if he needed more forced- bullies.

Personally I am no great fan of Putin, but his demeanor is that of a world leader, and much of what he’s saying here is the truth. We still do not know who used any chemicals, if any were actually used. .Terrorists are well-known for phony videos and Kerry is a notorious liar. Obama is, as usual, all about himself and could give a hoot less about those deaths or any other deaths and destruction over there, for that matter. Many Americans do not believe him and his minions, we do not support this action and are appalled and disturbed by his behavior. We have not forgotten Benghazi or the fast/furious debacle as well.

So Obama wants US Taxpayers to pay these guys to oust Syrian President Assad. The moral divide in Syria right now is non-existent. These guys do not represent law. They represent force — nothing more, nothing less. They don’t form a legitimate court of any kind. Yet they carry out death sentences against disarmed prisoners. I will not support such barbarity, and neither should anyone else. Sometimes the enemy of my enemy is also my enemy.
And why are they executing them? Shouldn’t they be interrogating them for information about those CW munitions used? Or is the reason they’re not interrogating them because they already know the CW was used by the FSA, not Assad?
Nothing good can come from helping such people militarily. Nothing at all.

I don’t think Obama cares at all at this point. He knows where the CW came from. The real question, I think, is whether Obama can stop this from happening. Or perhaps even — would he if he could? Syria must be neutered before any attack on Iran begins — this is a strategic fact that even the generals have admitted.
The ONLY open-ended war-making power Obama has is the AUMF which grants Obama, in his SOLE DETERMINATION, the right to attack the ones responsible for 9/11. I think he actually DOES have the right to go in, but he dare not use it — because he’d be admitting more about 9/11 than TPTB want. He’d also be going in to attack the Rebels themselves, not Assad.
