Yesterday, the al-Qaeda linked “Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant” (ISIL) broke the crosses off the two Christian churches in Raqqah, a city in northern Syria. They also set the contents of the churches — the Church of the Annunciation and the Church of Martyrs — aflame, and lifted the Islamic flag above them.
Members of the Islamic organization first broke the large cross from off the Church of the Annunciation. This prompted the residents of Raqqah to march and protest, calling for the expulsion of the Islamic terrorists, while carrying the large, broken cross (see video here, around :38 second mark).
The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant responded by attacking the Church of the Annunciation once again, gathering all its crosses and icons from inside, and setting them on fire. They capped off their “victory” by raising the ISIL flag—which is identical to al-Qaeda’s black flag with the words, “There is no god but Allah and Muhammad is his messenger” (the Islamic shehada, or profession of faith).
The same flags were raised on some of the 80 Christian churches destroyed in Egypt weeks earlier at the hands of the Muslim Brotherhood and their supporters.
After the desecration of the Church of the Annunciation came the Church of the Martyr’s turn. It was treated in the same manner, also with Islam’s black flag raised atop its dome in place of the broken cross.

The al-Qaeda flag–now THAT’S a flag worth burning.
The al-Qaeda is Evil Islam and Obama Supports Them! This is Shameful!! I am Devout Christian and I cry for the Syrian Christians under this Persecution!! They Need our Prayers, because The Evil muslims are Trying to Exterminate the Christians there!! Muhammad was NO PROPHET of our True God in Heaven! God is Love Through Jesus Christ His One and Only Son!! Please Pray for the Syrian Christians, They Need Our Help Right NOW! Father in Heaven I Pray for The Christians in Syria, Please Protect them from this Evil Islam, Please Guide them to Safety, Please Comfort them, Most of all Lord Jesus Protect them! You have a beautiful blog. So hard to see what is going on with our brothers and sisters in Christ in the Muslim world. But the blood of the martyrs is powerful and it looks like the Christians in the West are waking up. Orthodox Christians in former atheist Russia are fully aware of, and understand what is going on.

I am happy to see your strong passion for the suffering Christians across the world, especially in the Islamic world. There is no doubt that Jesus is the sole God and everything is being done as per the revelations in the Bible. There is no doubt that Islam grew via violent means and that it would not last forever.

Our leaders tell us that we should support the likes of this criminal and the other criminal who murdered a human being, split his chest and cut his heart out and took a bite from it! This is despicable

Egypt , Libya , and Syria . Why did the European nations bother to drive them out of Mali ?
I would like to see China gently elbow Iran out of the mix , and give Russia a hand with squaring away Syria .
