A Christian in Pakistan has been sentenced to death for blasphemy after he allegedly sent text messages that insulted the prophet Muhammad. Stories like this are common in Pakistan and other Muslim-majority countries but receive little attention in the West where, nearly 2 decades after 9/11 – we still have a clichéd and oversimplified understanding of Islam and how it views itself in the world.
