The recent execution of a Coptic Christian man in the Sinai is a reminder that the peninsula is a hotbed of wanton, jihadi terrorism in dire need of a crackdown.
Although the murder of 62-year-old Nabil H. Salama was videotaped in an Islamic State propaganda video—meaning it received some media attention in the West—much lesser known is that the Muslim terrorists have been terrorozing, massacring, and displacing the small Coptic community for years in the Sinai.
Early 2017 probably saw the worst atrocities. Then, the Islamic State in Sinai had released a video promising more attacks on the “worshipers of the cross,” a reference to the Copts of Egypt; the terrorists also referred to the Copts as their “favorite prey” and the “infidels who are empowering the West against Muslim nations.”
Thereafter followed a massive “jihad” on the Copts; the following are some of the more notable examples, all occurring in early 2017, mostly in al-Arish, Sinai:
- A 65-year-old Christian man was shot in the head and killed; the Copt’s 45-year-old son was then abducted and tortured by the Muslim terrorists; they then burned him alive and dumped his charred remains near a schoolyard (image here).
- A 35-year-old Christian was in his small shop working with his wife and young son when three masked men walked in, opened fire on and killed him. The Muslim murderers then sat around his shop table, eating chips and drinking soda, while the slain Copt lay in a pool of blood before his terrified wife and child.
- A 57-year-old Christian laborer was shot and killed as he tried to fight off masked men trying to kidnap his young son from off a crowded street in broad daylight. After murdering the Coptic father, they seized his young son and took him to an unknown location.
- A 45-year-old Christian schoolteacher was moonlighting at his shoe store with his wife, when masked men walked in the crowded shop and shot him dead.
- A 40-year-old Coptic medical doctor was killed by masked men who, after forcing him to stop his car, opened fire on and killed him. He too left a widow and two children.
- A group of armed Muslims attacked St. George, a Coptic Christian church in the Sinai on Sunday 15, 2017, leaving seven—including a young child—dead, and 15, mostly women and children, wounded.
- A Christian father and his two sons were abducted; their decapitated bodies were later found
As a result of these 2017 slayings and threats of more to come, nearly 350 Christians living in al-Arish, Sinai, fled their homes, with nothing but their clothes on their backs and their children in their hands. Most had congregated in a Coptic church compound in neighboring Ismailia by the Suez Canal.
In a video of these destitute Copts, one man was heard saying “They are burning us alive! They seek to exterminate Christians altogether! Where’s the [Egyptian] military?” Another Coptic woman yells at the camera,
Tell the whole world, look—we’ve left our homes, and why? Because they kill our children, they kill our women, they kill our innocent people! Why? Our children are terrified to go to schools. Why? Why all this injustice?! Why doesn’t the president move and do something for us? We can’t even answer our doors without being terrified!
Although 2017 witnessed this uptick of attacks on Copts, they had been attacked before and after.
Back in 2012, and in response to what Islamists perceived as Christian support for the popular revolts against then president Muhammad Morsi—Sinai’s Copts were heavily plummeted. Even though Muslim support for Sisi dwarfed Christian support, as Christians make only ten percent of Egypt, only they—the “uppity infidels”—were targeted for punishment: one priest, Fr. Mina Cherubim, was shot dead in front of his church; a 65-year- old Christian man was beheaded; several other Christians, including youths, were kidnapped, held for ransom, and later executed when the exorbitant ransoms could not be met. Two churches were attacked, one burned. Hundreds of other Christians were displaced.
It should not be imagined that Sinai Christians are only murdered when the jihadis have a special reason (such as 2012’s “revenge” spree against pro-Sisi Christians, or 2017’s ISIS video inciting violence against Copts). For instance, In January 2018, three masked gunmen targeted and killed a 27-year-old man after identifying him as a Christian by the cross tattoo on his wrist. According to his older brother, the siblings were walking home after work when the men “approached us and asked Bassem to show them the wrist of his right hand, and when they saw the tattoo of the cross, they asked him: ‘Are you Christian?’ Bassem answered ‘Yes, I am Christian,’ and repeated that again in a loud voice…. [T]hen they shot Bassem in the head. I could not believe what happened to my brother. He fell on the ground in front of me and I was unable to do anything….”
Similarly, in June 2016, Coptic priest, Fr. Raphael Moussa, 46, was randomly shot dead in “a hail of bullets” outside the Church of the Martyr of St George in Sinai. And in January 2015, masked gunmen stormed the home of a Christian man residing in al-Arish. After robbing him and his family at gunpoint, they shot him several times in the head, instantly killing him. According to the slain man’s wife, her husband was murdered “only because he was a Copt.” She pointed out that the masked intruders robbed everything in sight—including the money in his pockets, the jewelry she was wearing, her handbag, cell phones, and even a Bible. Then, after stealing everything available, and for no practical purpose, they shot her husband dead. A month later, another Christian man in al-Arish was randomly and fatally shot.
Nor is it just the “terrorists” who despise the Copts. In 2019, after an ISIS attack in Sinai left eight Egypt security officers dead, the government responded by honoring the slain—except for one, a Christian. Although seven schools were named after the seven slain Muslim officers, authorities denied this same honor to the sole Christian, Abanoub Nageh, citing “severe objections by the village Muslims that a school would bear such a flagrantly Coptic name as Abanoub.”
All of this is a reminder that the Sinai is a hotbed of Islamic terrorism, where ISIS is alive and well. Moreover, it is well to remember that those who butcher Coptic Christians for no other reason than being “infidels” would butcher any non-Muslim, should the opportunity ever present itself.

I’ve been following your enlightening articles on the Copts and other Christians.
It is time to broaden the discussion, perhaps, by joining with the Jewish community, and having this conversation be heard “out there” in the conversation.
edgar fletcher says
And I’m curious, do you think your jewish brethren will stand up for the Copts, or any Christian community for that matter. I’ve supported Israel all my life, yet I continue to read the hatred by the jews who say all we do is prosylitize. It’s very disheartening.
Maya says
At times they even work together against Christians. Muslims and Jews petition to remove a Catholic Saint statue in St. Louis last year in the states. https://www.jpost.com/international/muslims-jews-petition-to-remove-statue-of-st-louis-crusader-namesake-632256
Oren says
Unless St.louis was A Jew hater, then the only group who would want to remove A statue of A christian are commies, who are A very small minority, used as A pretense by the billionaires. They obviously hate religious Jews as well, and its mostly dishonest of you to use them against us, especially when the same personality type exists among your own people.
We fought the leftist horde in egypt, in persia, in iraq, in greece, in rome and in germany. It was your people who mostly stood by or joined the mob. In G-d I trust.
Oren says
Ridiculous, the vast majority of Jews find muslim atrocities repulsive.
Some of us are angry at christians, especially the ones who proselytize while the american and european government censor criticism of christianity, like europe/christianities racist past where Jews and their books were burned for racism, while europeans forbade arabs, africans and asians from entering into europe. Then your ‘priests’ tell Jews that Judaism is racism, and christianity is not.
I doubt you will see this post, but Judaism promotes justice for every people, and merit, while christianity promotes white gentile supremacy, oppression of Jews, and oppression of non whites, by supporting censorship of discussions about inequality. In G-d I trust.

Please, Dzhahongir, let us think with our hearts, as the wisdom of this world is an abomination to God, and God’s Wisdom is beyond the earthly understanding.
In the spirit is God, is Love, He moves hearts with Love. Not in grief, but in His everlasting presence. Today I spoke with a wonderful person, who was born again just a few months ago, He has such immense love and faith in his heart :'(
Please, let us remember why our Christian brothers and sisters died, and especially for Whom: our Lord Jesus Christ. He said, whoever denies Him, He shall deny also — and so indeed has happened with our Muslim breathren, yet we must show them the Love of our Lord, through ourselves.
As for the article; Thank you, Raymond, for writing it, you are doing an immense service to our persecuted brothers and sisters. More people need to know this, I will share it as Whatsapp Status.

Mohamad, the “creator” of the muslim “faith”, spread his “religion” by violence and death! Do you honestly believe that these people (iSIS) will ever stop their brutal acts? Don’t be naïve. They will only stop if they are wiped out from the face of the earth. You are talking about the “spirit of God and love etc”. Do you think these people understand any of this? And quite honestly, if God really cared, WHY does he allow all this bitterness and brutality in the world??? And don’t tell me that he is doing that to “try us” and all the other nonsense the church is preaching. The church is also responsible for some of the most brutal murders and killings throughout the world’s history. A glance at the middle ages, the Inquisition etc. etc., will reveal what the church actions were. They were murdering and burning alive everyone and anyone who dare disagree with their dogmas and twisted idea and sick minds created. In the name of religion – whether muslim or christian – some of the worst atrocities took place.
Svilen says
Yes, I understand what you mean, I understand that, when the hate is propelled by the religion, when one believes that it is divinely-sanctioned, and such. For example, I remember reading somewhere of a Christian early-teenage girl who was abducted by a Muslim and raped. She asked him “Why are you doing this?”, and he took the time to explain that when he is copulating with her, he is getting closer to his god.
Can we stop them? Not completely, but it is our duty to try our best. Can we make them feel ashamed of what they do, and show them the diametric opposite of what they’re doing? Yes. To make them feel ashamed of this cruelty.
I remember another person (don’t know if he continued to be Muslim) from Afganistan. He explained how when he was a child, he would give water to people he saw fleeing from Pakistan; (in other words, he was the living Good Samaritan); how the Muslim adults shunned him for doing it, but how he “saw no religion, only people in need.”
Muslims are still people, and as such have a heart; and a heart, as hate-filled and lie-filled as it may be, can still be transformed. I have trust that we, as human beings, know that a person, no matter how evil they may be, have the potential to repent and become good-hearted.
How? How? I don’t know for sure. We are called to be blameless, and innocent as doves. I have a clue: there is this wonderful Coptic Priest who is aired in Egyptian National Television; just like Raymond, but even better, he lets the people know: https://www.fatherzakaria.net/
“Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.”” John 18:36
I’m sorry if in any way my words could be interpreted as condoning the murder of us Christians; I condemn every kind of murder. May we love one another, and be in peace. Loving one another by reporting murders, as Raymond does, and loving one another by testifying the truth of our hearts. Where there is honesty, and a minimal amount of trust, there truth can be found.
About the Inquisition, I didn’t know this, that they gave a notice before arriving. I can only guess that they saw themselves as correcting people. Do I condone what they did? No.
I’m sorry, I didn’t find the article I was searching for, but found similar ones. If you wish, I could search harder; where I had read that out of 300.000 cases of Inquisition, at the end they only executed 3.000 people. Do I condone it? No.

Hi Danos,
While I agree with most of what you say, I am a bit baffled by your comment “if God really cared why does he allow all the bitterness and brutality in the world?”, which I have often heard. I have myself wrestled with this question for a long time and what I have come up with is that it is the price we pay for freewill. This is only my view and certainly not the last word on the subject and I would welcome any other view which makes sense. Of course, we must assume (or at least I do) that God cares about such evil occurrences (my God is love) and has the power to stop them but if he did we would be living in a paradise where evil does not exist, or else if it did, that some very evil acts only would not be allowed by God and, frankly, I don’t think we could ever come to some agreement as to where to draw the line between what is bad, worse or indifferent. Of course, with evil comes forgiveness and my admiration for the man who forgave the IRA murderer of his daughter knows no bounds, especially since I don’t think I would have been able to forgive my daughter’s murderer even though I know it is the Christian thing to do. Jesus Christ suffered a horrible death on the cross which he could have escaped and still asked for forgiveness for those who crucified him ‘for they know not what they do’. Are we to consider all those who do evil in this way as also did Socrates who believed that ‘No one knowingly does evil’? The more one delves into the question, it seems to me, the more complicated it becomes.
Mary Alafouzo says
PS. First and foremost, I would like to extend my thanks to Raymond Ibrahim for his efforts in letting us know what is happening to Christians in the Sinai and in the world at large with all the risks he is incurring. Second, I would like to say that my comments above do not imply ‘turning the other cheek’. The man who forgave the IRA murderer of his daughter had a right to forgive but for himself only, not even on behalf of the young woman’s mother unless he had the mother’s prior consent, for no one has the right to forgive for others, otherwise one becomes party to the abuse or murder. It is very well explained by Raymond Ibrahim in “Sword and Scimitar” (2018:132). When others are involved our obligation is to defend them.

No problem with love, patience, faith and mercy Svilen, but it is also just and loving to come to the aid of persecuted brethren and people in general who are oppressed. God uses people to work out his many plans. Agree?
As to Muslims, they are certainly our brethren in the family of mankind, though not sure they would agree to even that, but definitely not brothers in a common faith to Christians and Jews, or any other religion or faith than their own.

Yes, Don, I totally agree with you.

Thank you Svilen. I couldn’t find your reply and honestly I am quite interested to read it. Can you please make simpler for me to find it and read it? Many thanks. Something else I would like to add to me earlier reply. Personally I don’t care what religion, nationality or colour people are. I accept every person as they are. I don’t try to impose my believes on any one and equally I don’t expect or accept anyone to impose on me their believes. We live in a free world and that is how it should be. I have many muslim friends and there is mutual respect between us. I accept them as they are and they accept me as I am. I simply hate extremists of any religion or dogma.
Svilen says
Hi Danos, Thank you for replying! Yeah, sure, I’ll add it at the end of this comment ^^,
Yes, I too know 1 really kind Muslim, who is the exception, the 1 in a million. Other than that I distrust Muslims, due to their religion mandating them to lie to us.. That is why Raymond’s work is soo important: because it’s the truth amid a sea of lies, lies both from Muslims and especially from the media.
I am commanded to Love everyone, and also to stand for truth. Our Lord Jesus came and imparted truth, regardless of whether it went against politics; likewise should I take example. Raymond surely does
Does unconditional acceptance make Muslims more friendly? No, actually, as the abovementioned friend helped me understand, Muslims feel like they can do anything they want and get away with it. If in the Middle East they can do so, when they go to Europe most of them feel the same way.
And this is why Raymond’s work is so important: to open our eyes, that a burning house won’t extinguish itself. That a house set against itself cannot stand. I think Poland dealt with the problem well.
Here’s the comment I mentioned:

Good morning Svilen. Read your reply with interest. Don’t believe everything you read on the Internet. The inquisition murdered according to what you read “only 3000 “!!!! As far as I am concerned even one is far too many! All these victims of the church were murdered simply because they had a difference of opinion from the “church”. Scientist of those times were also persecuted because the “church” believed otherwise and it was contrary to what the church preached! Islam was imposed by war and fear. So was Christianity to a certain extend. There are more than 30,000 christian denominations in the world today – 1,200 in the US alone (according to a search on the Internet)! I read this with some doubt. Perhaps there are, perhaps there are not! What I say even TWO is one too many! And everyone preaches that theirs is the right one!!! That alone proves that the church/religion is a man made thing. Look at it seriously and don’t believe what the priests or the bible says. They are all written and created by men, so that they will control other human beings. If you read the Sumerian tablets which were written thousands of years before Christianity came into existence, you will find a lot of similarities. Jesus didn’t live in riches and wasn’t driven around in black limousines or flying in JUMBO Jets. The pope has his own personal 747 (Santo Spirito) I saw it at Fiumicino in Rome and on his arrival he was escorted by the Swiss Guards! Priest tell us that if we pay “x” amount of money our sins will be forgiven!!! Personally they disgust me. The Greek Archbishop in Australia, lives in a mansion worth almost $7 million. His Robes are worth $30,000, all made with gold thread. Yet there are people that are homeless and young children have no clothes or food. A couple of days ago a homeless teenager was killed here in Melbourne when a garbage bin was emptied in the crasher behind the truck and this boy with two other young boys used it as a shelter!!! One of them was crashed to death! Is this what we should accept in the 21st century or in any century? Homeless people, suffering and starving? Young teenagers not having a home to sleep? And the church becoming richer and richer. Do you know that one of the biggest land owners here in Melbourne is the church? Islam was created by an illiterate, brutal individual who spread the “religion” and called himself the “Prophet of Allah” – by war and murder and bloodshed. Yes, there are some peaceful muslims. Personally I don’t care what people believe in or don’t believe. It is a personal matter and no one has the right to tell anyone otherwise. And, as I said before, I don’t accept anyone to impose their opinion and views on any one else. I can express my views. It is your provocative to accept them or reject them. I will still accept you and respect you for what you are. You don’t need religion to have morals. If you can’t determine right from wrong then you lack empathy, not religion! Have a lovely day.

Good morning Danos! ^^,
Yes, you’re right, one person murdered is too many. I’m sorry for saying “only”; I meant to express my surprise, I didn’t intend to say I approve of murder.
About denominations: you’re right, one is too many too, for our Lord prayed that His Church be one.
What can be done? At the end of the day all are speaking about the same historic event, the writings on Him, and how He still keeps miraculously helping people.
The following person has gone through a path deeper than mine. In the Tiktok link, he posts in “Proof of God 7”, 9, 10, 17 interesting things which are still there.

You may ask, why am I telling you about things that happened thousands of years ago? Because He has revolutionized the world, His hand can still be felt in history, and most importantly, He and the Blessed Virgin Mary work miracles to this day.
Yes, there are many wolves in sheep’s clothing; there is corruption in the Church. These people are stealing against their Souls,
About the Pope, I don’t know, I’m not a Catholic, but think he’s doing an amazing job at healing the wounds of our hearts, reconciling us, speaking up for the downtrodden (he had went to the Hagia Sophia, and also to Syria I think recently, and also to Armenia and spoke about the Armenian Genocide).
Yes, I too disagree with the indulgences.
Wow, I didn’t know that the Pope’s clothes cost that much.
I’m thankful that he’s not wearing the Triara (triple crown), I think it intimidates us Orthodox; but wears a humble cap instead.
I’m sorry about the homeless teenager :'(
Homelessness is very hard, and I believe we should all do more to help them.
As far as I know, the Roman Catholic Church is the single largest philanthropist/donor in the world.
I give credit to the American Relief Administration, for clothing and feeding 10 million people during the Russian famine of 1921-22.
“And, as I said before, I don’t accept anyone to impose their opinion and views on any one else. I can express my views. It is your provocative to accept them or reject them. I will still accept you and respect you for what you are.”
I tell you the same, and that you have a kind heart! ^^,
“You don’t need religion to have morals. If you can’t determine right from wrong then you lack empathy, not religion! Have a lovely day.”
I have been reading this novel: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darkness_at_Noon
In it, the protagonist follows the Party logic to its final conclusion: up to his “physical liquidation” by the Party. He believed that history would absolve him, that history would remember him as doing well to submit to Party evil, that it is not that bad to confess the lies they forced him to confess.
Throughout the novel, a painting of Migelangelo’s “Pietà” is referenced many times; placed in contrast to the Party doctrine. That the former, Christianity, may have it’s flaws, but compared to that is less harmful.
I reccommend the book ^^,
Please have a wonderful day too! Your heart is kind ^^,

Yes, and you’re right, we must not only report these things, as Raymond wonderfully does, but also take active action. It would greatly help justice in the world if we did what this video says, not just for Armenians but for all of the persecuted Christians of the Middle East and China, among other regions.
Whoever brings effective aid to them, is doing the work of Angels. I totally recommend the books by Richard Wurmbrand. He had created the Voice of Martyrs charity organization (which by now has unfortunately been corrupted by wolves in sheep’s clothing, so we have to be careful to which charities we give money) (only the spaces around the dots need to be removed for the link to work):

And, if we protested the genocide that’s happening against the Uighurs, out of genuine Love in our hearts, (and to never justify such an atrocity by associating them with ISIS, with which they have nothing to do with), then we would be gaining the hearts of many of our Muslim neighbours. For they would see that it is Christians and humanists who condemn these atrocities, while their own Muslim country leaders stay silent.

Sorry, forgot to add the video. It’s from this YouTube channel “HAYREN Partners for Humanity”, I’m not sure if I can find the specific video, the channel has many really informative videos.

Christ told *us* to *resist no evil,* but all too many of us interpret those verses from the Sermon on the Mount to mean; *resist anyone defending their lives.* And apply tales of martyrs to justify their promotion, support, and celebration of evil.
In fact, we must resist evil, and our very existence – not to mention telling the truth – is a form of resistance. Christ’s words have a particular and specific application that does not apply to situations such as the one in the Sinai.
The devil created Islam to make life a living hell – for Muslims as much as for non-Muslims. And we should resist Islam with every means we can think of; short of offering evil for evil.
Prayer first, and then words, and then charity for the victims. But so much more needs to be done to stop Islam. It’s pro-hate, pro-supremacy, pro-crime, pro-violence, pro-misogyny, pro-racism, and that’s just a few of its flaws. If you have the means to do so, you have a duty to do something.
***God bless everyone here …

““…Then suddenly tribulation and distress will arise against them [the Moslems]. The King of the Greeks, i.e., the Romans, will come out against them in anger, roused as from a drunken stupor like one whom men had thought dead and worthless [Psalms 77:65]. He will go forth against them from the Ethiopian sea and will send the sword and desolation into Ethribus, their homeland, capturing their women and children living in the Land of Promise [Israel]. The sons of the king will come down with the sword and cut them off from the earth. Fear and trembling will rush upon them and their wives and their children from all sides. They will mourn their offspring, weeping over them and all the villages in the lands of their fathers. By the sword they will be given over into the hands of the king of the Romans — to captivity, death, and decay.
“The King of the Romans will impose his yoke upon them seven times as much as their yoke weighed upon the earth. Great distress will seize them; tribulation will bring them hunger and thirst. They, their wives, and their children will be slaves and serve those who used to serve them, and their slavery will be a hundred times more bitter and hard. The earth which they destituted will then be at peace; each man will return to his own land and to the inheritance of his fathers… Every man who was left captive will return to the things that were his and his fathers’, and men will multiply upon the once desolated land like locusts. Egypt will be desolated, Arabia burned with fire, the land of Ausania burned, and the sea provinces pacified. The whole indignation and fury of the King of the Romans will blaze forth against those who deny the Lord Jesus Christ. Then the earth will sit in peace and there will be great peace and tranquillity upon the earth such as has never been nor ever will be any more, since it is the final peace at the End of Time…”

My goodness Svilen! Is the above an extract from the Quran??? It talks nothing more about “swords, desolation, capturing their women and children, hunger and thirst… their wives, and their children will be slaves…” and on and on!!!! This psalm is not any better than what the jihadists shout and action! This alone confirms what I said earlier about brutality in religion, no matter which one.

Yeah, sorry, I think it’s a desire for revenge that made me post it. I too was surprised that there exists such a prophecy. Thank you for pointing it out, I feel like a hypocrite for having a desire for revenge, when I shouldn’t ever desire such a thing..
