CBN News’ Gary Lane interviewed me for a segment that aired today on how a Texas judge ordered a Muslim woman seeking a divorce to appear before a sharia court. The video follows; below it is the Global Lane’s summary of the story.
Islamic Law Analyst Says Texas Judge’s Ruling Sending Muslim Woman’s Divorce to Sharia Tribunal Sets ‘Shocking Precedent’
Is Islamic Sharia law coming to the USA? It’s already here in the Lone Star State.
A judge in Texas has ordered a Muslim woman seeking a divorce from her husband to appear in a tribunal governed by Sharia law.
Collin County District Judge Andrea Thompson ruled in March that Mariam Ayad must forego the justice system’s legal paths for divorce and instead submit to mediation under a Fiqh panel governed by a Muslim group based in Saudi Arabia, according to the Washington Examiner.
The judge based her decision on the fact that Ayad signed a prenuptial agreement with her husband, Ayad Hashim Latif, stating she would permit her marriage — if necessary — to be arbitrated by Sharia.
Ayad claims she was misled into signing a pre-nuptial agreement that mandated Sharia mediation.
She’s appealing the ruling saying it violates her constitutional rights as a U.S. citizen.
On this week’s episode of the Global Lane, Islamic historian and analyst Raymond Ibrahim suggests Judge Thompson’s ruling sets a shocking precedent for America.

Thg is Judge needs to be removed, Western civilization does not recognize SHARIA LAW, and this Judge needs to recognize she is ruling on Western Law Culture, which these people entering are sup[posed to assimilate too ,we and our Judicial sytem are not obligated to submit to theirs, and these people should have never been allowed ebtrance to the U.S.A. expecting their Laws to be recognized, call for this Judge’s ruling to be dismissed as well the Judge, as she hasn’t got her priorities straight and is a detriment to our Judicial system. Stand up for this woman if she is willing to assimilate to our Laws and abandon SHARIA, if not deport them all back and let them abide by SHARIA in their own Country, this is the United States of America and our law system is the ruling powers.

I agree entirely. In the West only Western laws apply otherwise we end up with a mess where people don’t respect our laws anymore.

PS I meant “should apply”

Thanks Raymond, brief but fact filled. I hope to try this one on a few friends. The short length might get them to give it a try.
There is so much about our friends ideology that is troubling – but what hits me the most I think is the women and girls among them and the unfortunate non-Muslim women and girls who find themselves entrapped by them, a tragedy beyond description.
Average Western citizens can’t even listen to more than a few minutes of it without turning away.
When I discovered the UK underage teen grooming abuses, I thought I would start a grassroots movement and do something about it. Very difficult to get anyone to even hear it out, in brief!
Like any actual battle, we watch the casualties mount but can’t give up or give in.
Thanks again Raymond

Hi Don, There are apparently 80 sharia courts in the UK, according to Nigel Farage (online 14 January 2015). This is a disgrace. English law should prevail equally for everybody and anybody who doesn’t like it can go elsewhere. I was at one of the meetings when Rowan Williams said that “it is inevitable that parts of sharia are incorporated into English law”. Needless to tell you I was shocked to hear this especially coming from a man who is supposed to be educated and a Christian. This makes women citizens unequal, in fact half the worth of a man in every respect, after our great grandmothers and grandmothers fought so hard, chained themselves to railings and went to jail for equality.
Fight it in the US fight it now before it goes further as hard as you can otherwise it will prevail as it does here. And then the respect for US law will vanish.

How is it possible for a Texas judge to order a muslim wife seeking divorce from her muslim husband to a sharia tribunal to adjudicate her case? Does this judge believe that her signature on a prenuptial document that ostensibly requires the petitioner to submit to the authority of the Sharia panel? Does he believe so in the face of the fact that sharia “law” and/or protocols are not recognized in US jurisprudence, and does he beleive that he should not have dismissed her allegedly voluntary signature on the prenuptial agreement? The Islamicists’ effort to inject sharia “law” piecemeal into US jurisprudence is one part of the broad attack on American (and Western) institutions that cannot be tolerated. Can this judge be removed from his disgraced bench? One hopes so.

Thank you, Raymond.
It is precisely this sort of betrayal to Western values that infests the system, and destroys it like a trojan horse.
Former Archbishop, Rowan Williams publicly stated that Sharia was inevitable.
And he of all people.
Who bent down to kiss the fist of Catholic Pope Saint John Paul II. (The latter immediately put him on the mat as regards the homosexual Bishop in West Hamshire).
No, I am not an Anglican, nor an Episcopalian, but when church leaders betray their own flock what is left?
