This is an excellent book! I’m almost finished, on the Vlad chapter. It is stunning to learn about the hardships these men and their followers endured for the love of Christ! It is also stunning to learn how little support they had from their Christian counterparts. Having read the earlier book “The Sword and Scimitar”, I didn’t think it could be surpassed. I was wrong. I was very sad when I finished the Skanderbeg chapter. After all the self-sacrifice, Albania today is majority Muslim. What the Albanians endured was truly remarkable!

I didn’t review either book because I’m not sure what Amazon will allow me to say (Now how sad is that). I would really like to emphasize the slavery aspect because so little is known about what the Muslims did routinely to Christians. I learned a lot from the Sword and Scimitar book.
Thx Raymond – “our heritage” – To reclaim it I’m reminded of the scripture vs, Isaiah 51:1
“Look to the rock from which you were hewn, And to the hole of the pit from which you were dug.”
Learning about these great men, their integrity, valor, faith and action, should inspire us in even our simple lives, and in simple ways, to emulate their excellent character.
Western civilization, is not, just the sum of its sins or faults, its benefits to the people and world, far outweigh its errors. Gov Kristi Noem of N Dakota said it of the United States, ‘We are not just the sum of our faults..’ Raymond’s book highlights that even before the US existed, Western civilization possessed greatness, not perfect but good.
I just finished this book, and I can’t say enough good about it or Audible. I always thought using Audible was cheating, but it only makes sense as much time I spend in a car. Christians need not apologize, but we should praise God for these brave men. I learned some history I was never taught. to school,

Loved the Sword and Scimitar. Had two brothers read it as well.
