Editor’s note: The following was written for RaymondIbrahim.com by an anonymous American teacher living in the Muslim world
At a recent dinner party, the death sentence of Meriam Yahia Ibrahim for the crime of apostasy by a Sudanese Islamic court came up as a topic of discussion. Not surprisingly, the progressive elements of the group did their best to defend Islam, claiming that her sentence to die by hanging was handed down by religious fanatics (not Muslim fanatics) who don’t understand the peaceful nature of Islam.
With my wife by my side, I firmly disagreed with them, stating that my three years’ experience working in the Middle East has taught me that Meriam’s hanging sentence fits perfectly well within the Islamic culture. To further my point, I mentioned a past interaction I had with a group of Sudanese Muslims who wanted to kill my wife for leaving Islam.
This event occurred a few years ago while I was working as an ESL instructor in a Saudi Arabian University. Many of my colleagues were Sudanese Muslims and my first impression of them was very positive. I admired them because they were hardworking and forward looking. They were in Saudi Arabia to earn enough money to either start a family, buy a home, or invest in a business. For many months, we shared stories regarding our families and dreams.
Knowing that I have a Thai wife who remained in Thailand while I worked in Saudi Arabia, my Sudanese co-workers would regularly ask me why I didn’t bring her to live with me in Saudi Arabia, to which I always responded, “She doesn’t like the idea of wearing the hijab in the Saudi heat nor the idea of remaining in our apartment all day while I am at work.”
To that, they would reply, “She must live that way in Saudi Arabia; that is our culture,” to which I responded, “She doesn’t like that aspect of this culture which is why she refuses to move to Saudi Arabia.”
One day, to get them of my back for good regarding that issue, I told them the whole truth about my wife not moving to Saudi Arabia. I confided in them that my wife was a Muslim and that she converted to Buddhism in her early twenties, years before I met her, and that Saudi Arabia could be dangerous for her.
Considering these men my friends, I was hoping they would be understanding and change the topic of conversation. After a long minute of silence, one of Sudanese looked at me and said, “Your wife must be put to death!”
I could not believe that the man whose desk was in front of mine and with whom I had numerous great conversations would say that to my face. So, I burst out laughing and said, “You can’t be serious!” to which he replied, “Our culture requires us to kill her.”
While this exchange went on for another minute, I noticed that the other six Sudanese teachers remained very quiet. I wondered whether they agreed or not with their colleague. The next morning, my question was answered. While shaking hands with all my co-teachers, I refused to shake the hand of the Sudanese who threatened my wife. He felt insulted and was furious, so I said, “How can I shake the hand of a man who wants to kill my wife.”
He replied: “But they all think like me—so why do you shake their hands.”
I responded: “They were smart enough not to say it to my face, but in your defense, you are the most honest among them.”
They stared at me in shock and awe and from that time, I rarely spoke to them. A month later, my contract was over and I left Saudi Arabia. From Saudi Arabia, I moved to another Muslim country and asked a female co-worker if the country would be safe for my wife because she left Islam.
She looked at me and said, “Do not bring your wife here.”
After finishing my story, I looked at the progressives at the dinner party and said, “That is what Muslims do to apostates because it is their religious duty to do so. My friendship with my Sudanese co-workers meant nothing to them once they found out my wife left Islam. So Meriam’s verdict and eventual hanging, if the West does not interfere, should come as no surprise to anyone who understands Islam.”
They looked at me with infuriating eyes. I dared to break their PC rules regarding Islam and they couldn’t fight back with my wife, a potential victim, by my side.
I am not sure what it is, but there is a lot of deception about Islam. Too many people want to believe that Islam is religion of ‘peace’ but simply is not. Maybe because Islam teaches it is ok to lie, to win someone over to their faith? It is great, that you are trying to get the truth out. May many more, do the same…
Islam will be given protected status until it has authority over a quarter of the earth. “When He opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, “Come!” 8 And I looked, and there was a pale green horse. The horseman on it was named Death, and Hades was following after him. Authority was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill by the sword, by famine, by plague, and by the wild animals of the earth.” Rev 6:7-8. The green horse is Islam. Green is the sacred color of Islam. It is everywhere in Islamic countries. It will take mass deception and cover-up to accomplish this but it WILL happen.
Yeah and theres a little deception about the type of people that teach ESL. My brother retired from the CIA, he was the senior recruiter for ESL teachers.
Most Muslims are not much differant than you (80%). They want to live in peace, raise their children and want be happy.
10% follow the stictist version and Islam like vombies and have no capability for independent thought. The follow in the footsteps of mostly the radical Imans in their religion.

Sir Charles Napier, a British Administrator in India, confronted some men about the practice of suttee – the Hindu tradition of burning widows on the funeral pyres of their
husbands.
“You say that it is your custom to burn widows.” he said. “Very well. We also have a
custom: When men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours.”
The moral to this story is that killing is what Muslims do to apostates because it is their religious duty to do so. Let them do so. And then let us apply our religious duty in Genesis 9:6 – If a man sheds the blood of another, by man shall his blood be shed.
This suggests that the judge who sentenced Meriam to death should be assassinated if she is killed.
Not assassinated — executed.
How many of the suttee practitioners agreed to follow tradition?
I see, so based on Genesis, we should punish violence with violence. That’ll stop the violence! The Bible is truly an amazing book, providing solutions like this for modern society. It’s a wonder we don’t all follow it to the letter.

I am more convinced that the liberals embrace Islam simply because the religion is somewhat Christianity’s enemy, and the progressives also see Christianity as their enemy.
Very true. For example feminists embrace Islam as an ally because it is anti-Western, not because it respects and values woman. Add in the fear of being labeled a racist vis-a-vie the term ‘Islamophobe’ and we have our current state of affairs.

Thank you for taking the stand, Sir. Please take good care of your wife. I lived in Thailand for ten years and love the people who are Buddhist. The muslim villagers, not at all. So glad your wife changed religions.
I have to share this. Please don’t remove. As of this minute, my next door neighbor is throwing his things in the trunk of his car and cursing at somebody on the phone. This guy has a wife who wears a full hajib. Our apt manager told him to move out after his little boy tried to kill our dog. He picked up a big rock and yelled “dog die”. My husband was able to stop him. The apts are next to the Islamic School, and recently half of Saudi Arabia must have immigrated. This guy is hard core Islamic, he’s been cussing about the dogs since the day he moved in. Kudos to our manager for telling him to move out. The progressives would have told us to tolerate it.

I am sorry to hear of your troubles, I am glad your husband was able to intervene. Let me recount a similar experience. I have a son that is career Army. Until recently he was part of one of our Special Forces groups. He has a service dog, a companion that helps him cope with something he experienced while sweeping a Taliban Stronghold, involving something unspeakably evil. He is now part of a regular Army unit and living off post. One day he gets a call from the apartment manager that some residents of middle eastern origin and Islamist beliefs had come to the office claiming my son’s service animal had attacked them. They wanted it removed from the apartments and euthanized. There was no evidence of the attacks on the security cameras at the time and location claimed, so all ended well.
The complex tried to force the accusers to leave the complex, but they got a lawyer through the local Islamic Association and are now dragging it through the courts. I counsel you to be careful and situationally aware for the foreseeable future.
This and the issue of “honor killings”. What kind of “peaceful” religion allows and even mandates the murder of a daughter because she chooses to marry someone other than one chosen for her? Or because she is accused (without proof, merely hearsay) of being in the company of a man not of her family?

It’s less baffling if you keep in mind that Islam is and always has been nothing more than a rationalization for sadism. Its adherents subordinate everything–reason, happiness, enjoyment, peace–to that. Their preoccupation with submission, subjugation, dominance, cruelty, bloodshed, and death prove it.
The claim about being a “religion of peace” is Islamist propaganda. Islam divides the world into two spheres: the area it has not yet conquered is called the “house of war”, and the area it has conquered or put under subjection is called the “house of peace”. People who foolishly or ignorantly accept the idea that Islam is “the religion of peace” are being hoodwinked into supporting Islamic subjugation or supremacy.
My questions were rhetorical. I am fully aware of the nature of islam.
It is a religion of peace — the kind of peace that happens when everyone has been killed, silenced, or put under a burqa.
It’s bad enough that the libs want the idea that all Muslim’s are nice to be their own death, but they want them to be the death of us as well.
