In a recent interview, Syrian President Bashar Assad makes some interesting observations. When asked “If you were able to deliver a message to President Obama today, what would it be?” Assad responded (via VIE):
I think the normal thing that you ask any official in the world is to work for the interests of his people. And the question I would ask any American is: what do you get from supporting terrorists in our country, in our region? What did you get from supporting the Muslim Brotherhood a few years ago in Egypt and other countries? What did you get from supporting someone like [Turkish Prime Minister] Erdogan?…. You are the greatest power in the world now, you have many things to disseminate around the world: knowledge, innovation, IT with its positive repercussions. How can you be the best in these fields yet the worst in the political field? This is a contradiction. That is what I think the American people should analyze and question. Why do you fail in every war? You can create war, you can create problems, but you cannot solve any problem.
These last observations concerning the Obama’s administration’s many foreign policy failures are hardly limited to Assad and have been voiced by a myriad of world leaders, including Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, Egyptian President Sisi, and Russian President Putin.
After accusing the Obama administration of “encouraging war between neighboring states,” Putin added:
American objectives have not been realized, nor have they accomplished anything, because everything has collapsed. Afghanistan faces problems, and Iraq and Libya are falling apart. Egypt also was going to collapse had President Sisi not taken matters in hand. And all this demonstrates the failures of the Obama administration.
At any rate, based on precedent, what the United States often “gets from supporting terrorists in the region” is terrorist attacks on its own soil, such as 9/11, which was the work of the “freedom fighters” the U.S. once supported in Afghanistan in the 1980s.

Assad regime is the prime source of terrorism and terrorist groups in the region, try not to forget Hamas, Hezbollah and other linked to Al-Qaeda groups, all the terrorist attacks which took place in the region were masterminded by Assad, remember when the ex-prime minister of Iraq wanted to file a complaint against Assad in the Security Council for his role in the attacks in Iraq. Toppling such a regime would limit the power of all terrorist groups in the region .

So they turn it into another sharia pit that only various sized nukes can cure.. Yep, its sand turned to glass but you can still pump their oil just fine…

Turkey and the Gulf states are the prime source of terrorism in the region. Assad is not the mastermind. Erdogan and Qatar are. The west must stop all trade and aid with all islamic countries.

Jamal, as evil as Hamas, Hezbollah and the like are, and as evil as Assad was to his people, all pales into insignificance when compared to the evil of ISIS which could only be u unleashed after weakening Assad’s regime. Therein lies the issue. Show me one Islamic state whose people enjoy the freedoms, all the freedoms, of people in any western democracy. Islam is the problem…

You havn’t the slightest clue what you are talking about. Assad’s regime has been the most secular and permissive in the region. The problem is that Americans are unknowingly supporting the terror groups that are rampaging through the middle east. We supported them in Libya, we support them in Iraq, and are supporting their insurgency into Syria. All of the places we are attacking with our jets are CIVILIAN, and strategic to preparing for war in Iran.
Syria is Iran’s closest ally, that is why we are attacking them right now, so that when we make our push into Iran, Syria will already have fallen, and be in no position to help Iran.

‘thanks’, but I don’t consider myself ignorant; if you’re calling ISIS civilian, that’s your problem. your wild Iran theory lacks credibility – no one wants war with Iran although all free thinking peoples would love to have the mullahs out and a more secular government in…although talking about secular in an islamic majority country is an oxymoron. Turkey calls itself secular but its anything but…
ozlanthos says
I am not calling ISIS civilians, I am calling them US PAID MERCENARIES!!! I am saying that the “targets” that we are bombing are CIVILIAN TARGETS! Don’t you think it is really convenient that ISIS just happens to take over Syria’s granaries? Oh gosh, got to carpet bomb those! Syria’s oil refineries? Oh gosh, get some smart-bombs on that STAT! WHO CARES THAT WE JUST PLUNGED HALF THE COUNTRY INTO STARVATION! WE COULDN’T POSSIBLY HAVE KNOWN THERE WERE NO “ISIS” WITHIN 50 MILES OF THOSE SITES! OH CRAP, WE JUST CRIPPLED THEIR ECONOMY BECAUSE THEIR OIL EXPORTS ARE 2/3rds OF THEIR ANNUAL GDP. AW SHUCKS!
Keep believing the MSM. They’ll have you thinking that Iran “deserves” to be invaded within 2 years.

so you agree with me that Assad was the lesser evil…evil as he was and probably still is…
ozlanthos says
I don’t think Assad is evil. If anyone has a chance of bringing the middle east into the 1960s, it’s Assad….especially if he out-lives this civil incursion…then he will have the distinction of being the only national leader in the region to have sustained a US-led assault and survived…. Lots of cred.
The best thing we could do is withdraw our funding from our proxies, terminate their supply lines, and leave them to dangle in the wind. Rat them out to Assad behind the scenes, and agree to provide whatever material or logistical support is needed to route ISIS/IS/ISIL/JSIL/Al Quada/whateverthefucktheycallthemselvesnow from Syria. We may never get the man on our side, but we may be able to keep him from seeking revenge on us for this….

What Assad said is factually correct and makes sense.
Obama has been supporting Sunni and Shite Jihadis and apocalyptic revolutionaries.
He switched sides in the war and no one seems to have noticed.
The “help” he provided Assad’s enemies in Syria came back to overrun and destroy the army we left behind in Iraq but of course it wasn’t Little Barry’s fault.
